Visual Strategies
Vocabulary and Word Structure
* Word Study is explicit 10-15 minute daily instruction on applying spelling strategies, noticing patterns in words, and building vocabulary.
WE WILL BE FOCUSING ON A SPELLING PATTERN or SPELLING STRATEGY EACH WEEK DURING WHOLE GROUP INSTRUCTION. During GUIDED READING GROUPS, your student will also be receiving one on one and small group word work based on his or her level.
Attached below will be the weekly word patterns we are studying and assessing.
We will also include high frequency words within our study. Those will be listed as well. It is important to note that some students will be able to spell the words we highlight, they are just highlighted because of the patterns we noticed. Students will be able to transfer their knowledge of the pattern into other words independently.
